2008 November > Litter Clean-up and Picnic Organized by Jessika Corkum-Gorrill of the Toronto Regional Conservation Authority, this litter clean-up and picnic held at the Malton Community Centre was nothing less than a success. People of all ages from the Malton community came with extraordinary enthusiasm and passion to give back to their community by helping to clean up the Mimico Creek. 11 a.m. sharp, armed with a plastic glove, a blue recycling bag and a yellow garbage bag, the team of volunteers began its one hour quest to cleanse the Mimico Creek of whatever didn’t belong; from empty bottles and candy wrappers to old toy scooters and bicycle wheels. The conclusion of the quest was back at the community centre where volunteers were rewarded with a pizza lunch in the park.
