Curtis Chow Memorial Day
On October 28th, Fallingbrook Middle School, in Mississauga, held a memorial day for past student, 12-year-old Curtis Chow, who passed away in July of 2011. Curtis had courageously battled cancer for many years and was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at 4 years old. Neuroblastoma is a rare childhood solid tumor that develops from nerve tissue. Curtis was the epitome of a fighter, literally and figuratively, and went to school throughout his chemotherapy last year, participating in all school events. Friends, family and staff at the school honoured Curtis' life and raised money for neuroblastoma research at Sick Kids by participating in the Curtis Memorial Walk. After the walk, the school also had a fundraising lunch and a dance for students. Also, three staff members from the school shaved their heads at the memorial to create awareness and to honour Curtis’ memory. For more information, visit www.sickkidsfoundation.com
